Hi Nancy and Welcome:

I know that we will be working on some programs that affect both children and adults with various disabilities at Horses Help and SW Autism Research and Resource Centrer. It would be interesting to find gardening programs specifically for older kids with disabilities.

It occurs to me that Roberta Paolo or "Granny in the Garden" as she's known, may have some resources. She will be in town this Dec and will be doing a few free talks fo us on her project, which is the largest school garden program in the midwest (Ohio).

Container gardening sounds like a great way to get started. I know I have heard of gardening programs that involve kids and adults with learning disabilities, just can't think of the specific references right now. In my mind, gardening would be a whole lot more rewarding work than bagging groceries or scraping cafeteria trays, just a couple of the jobs where I have noticed adults with learning disabilities.
