Aquaponics. I need ideas and opinions.

The heat is a real problem. 1. Algae blooms, hopefully the fish will take care of that. 2. Oxygen. When the temp goes up in the water, saturated oxygen goes down. This has been a real problem for me…

Does Anyone Remember What An Egg Looked Like In 1955 ???

Clint, there are a lot more of us keeping chickens then you think! More all the time. One suggestion I would have would be to check craigslist, type in "eggs" in the search box. I'm in North Phoenix…

Thanks everyone. The back yard is a mess, & too soggy for a class, and it still looks like it's going to rain more. If you can't make it for the new date, I still plan on having the class again.

Looks like we are going to be rained out for Saturday. Would everyone be able to move the class to Saturday Jan 30, same time? I will be sending email to everyone still on the attending list with the same message.

Good reason to get Mother Earth News, really kind of the bible when it comes to this stuff. If you noticed the by-line, the AP picked up the Arizona Republic's article and printed it word for word and then the Mother Earth reprinted that with credi…

Making Green Vacation Plans, need your help!

I am collecting places to go that are educational and/or entertaining but also with a green or sustainable focus.

For Example:
The Tres Rios Wetlands in Tolleson
Epcot in Orlando
Solar Living Center in Hopland California.
Biosphere II near Tucson

Places where the public can go to learn or experience aspects of green/sustainable living.
They can be self-exploring or part of a tour, they just need to be on a daily or at least once a month basis.
Appropriate energy, alternative shelter, organic g… Continue

Building a resource web site

I've been working off and on for quite awhile on a green/sustainable living website. It has a long way to go, but the bones are there. I'm inviting everyone to stop by and provide comments. Maybe sign up for the bimonthly (hopefully) newsletter.
If you are interested in being a contributor that would be great, let me know and we can work out training, standards, and passwords.
I want it to be a resource, at least a hub site containing links to other websites with information.… Continue

I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas

How about being green and saving green during the holiday season?

Many on this site are creative, crafty people so I'll skip the suggestions of homemade baked items, soup mixes, and even food baskets. Well, other than to remind you to take into account the intended recipients dietary restrictions.

What else? The key is always to KNOW your recipient. What do they like? That is always the key. If you buy or make something personal, that shows you care or gave thought to what they like. This does… Continue

Hi jack, I wanted to attend your class but unfortunately it was a little too far away. Will you be holding any more classes? Also, is your class hands on or is it something you could offer at venues other than your house? For examples hereablouts in Tempe for East valley residents. I hope you will check out the transition town group as your skills and interests are very much in line with transition thinking. welcome to azhs. Nayeema
