School Gardens: Create & Grow Learning Experiences for Kids. (Central Phoenix)

This event is free, however, if you would like to make a donation to AZHS Community & School Garden program you may certainly do so. AZHomegrownSolutions is a 501c3 organization that is completely volunteer run. We will issue you a receipt for your donation for tax purposes.

Please join us as we welcome Roberta Paolo, known as "Granny in the Garden", to the Valley. Granny’s Garden School is the largest and most comprehensive school garden program in the Midwest.

Granny's Garden is based on the 25 acre campus shared by the primary and elementary schools in Loveland, OH. The school has been turned into a teaching garden with more than 100 garden beds where our students come out as part of their school day to grow vegetables under the guidance of their classroom teachers and our garden teachers. They use the process of growing vegetables to teach across the curriculum. The produce is served in the cafeteria and donated to a local food bank and “Soup” kitchen. The teaching is not limited to the garden beds. We have many common flower garden areas and a seven acre nature trail that are also part of the program. Read more about her program here.

Granny will show slides of her successful school garden program and talk about the process she went through to create such a successful project. She will be available for a question and answer session afterwards - so PLEASE BRING YOUR QUESTIONS!

I posted this event and the one the 29th on my Facebook events so there are people from there coming as well. Is there a way to add them as RSVP for the event without signing up on this website as well? For most people, the less work the better...lol...but I can sign them up on here manually as they RSVP on Facebook. Thanks.
